My Political Philosophy and Bio - "Old Fashioned Liberal" The phrase "old fashioned liberals" is key. I'm one of those! What the term "liberal" means today is nearly the opposite of what it meant to older generations. I support equality before the law, freedom of speech, pro-working class policies, transparent government, opposition to war, corporate regulation, environmental protections and opposition to authoritarian policies. I am an independent candidate running for North Carolina State Senate in District 40. As a long-time Charlotte resident and community advocate, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities facing our growing city. With a background in finance, technology, and public policy, I bring a fresh perspective and innovative solutions to address the issues that matter most to our community.
Revitalizing Our Public Schools Charlotte's public schools are facing significant challenges despite increased funding. I propose: -A comprehensive audit of school funding to ensure efficient use of resources -Implementing innovative teaching methods and technologies -Reducing class sizes and increasing support for teachers -Enhancing vocational and technical education programs -Improving accountability measures for school administrators
Addressing Rising Healthcare Costs Healthcare expenses are skyrocketing, often due to preventable lifestyle-related illnesses and systemic issues. As Senator, my plan will include: -Implementing community-based wellness programs -Promoting nutrition education and access to healthy food options -Investigating and addressing corruption in state medical systems -Supporting telemedicine initiatives to increase access to care -Encouraging competition in the healthcare marketplace to drive down costs
Attracting Business and Creating Jobs To support workers and create new opportunities, as Senator, I will: -Simplify regulations and reduce red tape for small businesses -Provide tax incentives for companies that create high-quality, long-term jobs -Invest in workforce development programs to match skills with job market needs -Promote Charlotte and North Carolina as a hub for innovation and technology
Enhancing Quality of Life I believe in making Charlotte a beautiful and livable city for all residents. As District 40 Senator,, my plan includes: -Expanding and connecting the city's network of parks and greenways -Supporting the development of community gardens and urban green spaces -Preserving historic neighborhoods and promoting sustainable urban design -Encouraging the creation of cultural spaces and public art installations
Solving Charlotte's Housing Crisis As Charlotte grows, housing affordability is becoming a critical issue. If elected to NC Senate, I propose: -Streamlining the permitting process for new housing developments -Encouraging mixed-income and mixed-use developments -Implementing tax relief programs for senior homeowners -Exploring innovative housing solutions such as tiny homes and co-housing -Improving public transportation to connect affordable housing with job centers
Thanks for visiting and I ask for your vote for NC Senate District 40 Senator on November 5th!
